50 FOOT SAILING VESSELS David Skene was recommended to me by the legendary boat builder Eric White in the summer of 1995. At that point a friend and I were looking for a boat builder / project manager to build two 50 foot sailing vessels.
The project involved design changes in the hulls and upperworks and interiors. The boats were being built to the highest yacht standards and it was crucial to the success of the enterprise that the person running the project had substantial experience and an elevated skill level.
In this regard, David Skene proved the ideal choice. Thanks to him, the two vessels were successfully completed and the first, fitted out entirely by him, was recently sold for close to the asking price of £375,000 after several seasons of successful cruising. My own boat is being prepared for a long cruise.
In 25 years of building, owning and sailing yachts, I have never met a man more useful to have on a big project than David Skene. He is scrupulously honest, reliable and has a depth of knowledge and experience that, in thi era of basic skills, is virtually unique. He has another rare quality in his profession - he does not waste money. He is careful with expensive materials and his extensive contacts make it possible to buy at the best prices.
Mr Skene has recently turned his attentions to metal boats and completed Al Shaheen which has been favourably reviewed in the yachting press.
There are traps for even the most wary in the difficult business of fitting out large yachts, but David Skene steered my friend and me safely around them. I recommend him to you.
